Last Week Before Holidays

As always we will be continuing with learning and learning routines with some adjustments. All activities we are planning for incorporate curriculum so it is important that students continue to attend  school. Week of Dec. 9-13

On Thursday we will say our goodbyes to Ms. James! It has been great to have her with us! Hard to believe our time is up!

We are finishing up our visit to India. We are now getting all packed up for a trip to the Ukraine in the New Year.

In Science we have finished talking about Building and Testing and will be moving on to Hearing and Sound.

In Math we have been exploring numbers using expanded form (345=300+40+5), adding and subtracting on a open number line, comparing numbers (< = >), and patterns on the 100 chart (skip counting). When we come back we will continue skip counting, moving into multiplication.

In writing we are working on story plans and the editing process. In the New Year, we will be focussing on writing in simple paragraphs. Please feel free to keep practicing writing jot notes from non-fiction books.

Christmas Concert

WOW! It's here! Our show is tomorrow! If you would like to attend in the afternoon, the show starts at 1:15. In the evening the doors open at 4:30pm and the show starts promptly at 5:00pm. Please send your child down to the classroom. After the show you will be able to pick them up from the classroom.

Nov. 25-29

It was a busy week for us! Last week we had Mrs. Diaz come in to talk about her trip to India. Thisweek we had Mrs. Durha come in to talk about growing up in India. On top of these two presentations from guest speakers, Ms. James has been reading stories about India and the students have been pulling important information out and writing jot notes. Since we have done many jot notes together, the students are now being asked to start making their own. Please read a non-fiction book with your child and have them attempt to write important information in jot notes. We have also been experimenting with pillars, arches and beams. We are testing which types are the strongest.
Who is on the money? Why are they on the money?

Please ask about this special holder.

Having a head piece added to Halle's braid.
Ms. James all wrapped up!

Erin gets to try too!

Back for more! A special treat from India called Kheer.
